Before explaining why it is crucial to monitor your health, let’s examine some beliefs most people have regarding their health. I have heard so many but here are the most common ones:

  • My genes determine my health. My father or mother had a certain health problem and they have passed it on to me!
  • Life is too short to be hard on myself all the time.
  • My doctor knows my health records. Why should I bother? I got enough things to worry about!
  • I’m not a doctor!
  • Many unhealthy habits are fun. You only get to live once and I want to take advantage of all the “fun” I can have!
  •  I can never remember what I should or should not do in order to stay healthy! My husband or wife keeps reminding me!
  • I have no access to the expensive medical devices. How can I examine myself with no equipment?
  • Visiting doctors costs me a lot of money. Why should I go through the busy waiting list of patients who are waiting to visit the doctor just for the sake of hearing the 3 simple words my doctors says at the end of the visit: “You Are OK!”  … It is a waste of money, time, energy, and the answer is the same 90% of the time!
